MEDIA ADVISORY: The Leader’s Roundtable: How the Democrat Plan Will Affect Your Life

National Right to Life President, Carol Tobias, Will Join Roundtable with Congressional Pro-Life Leaders

WASHINGTON – On Friday, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy will host a roundtable on the Hyde Amendment and taxpayer funding of abortions as part of an ongoing series about the Build Back Better plan.

The Democrat’s deceptively titled “Build Back Better” spending spree contains multiple provisions that would expand taxpayer funding of abortion. The bill, as currently written, would provide unlimited funding for abortion on demand in exchange plans in Medicaid non-expansion states. Additionally, the proposal includes a Medicaid-like program in non-expansion states with no Hyde Amendment protections.

“Abortion is not healthcare,” stated Carol Tobias. “Democrats in Congress are pursuing a radical agenda of abortion on demand to be paid for with taxpayer funds.”

National Right to Life believes that the Hyde Amendment has proven itself to be the greatest domestic abortion-reduction measure ever enacted by Congress. Additionally, a majority of Americans have consistently opposed taxpayer funding for abortion.
