National Right to Life Says Planned Parenthood Should Return $80 Million in Funds Intended for Small Businesses

May 20, 2020 | 2020 Press Releases, Press Releases, Press Room

WASHINGTON – According to a report yesterday by Fox News, thirty-seven Planned Parenthood affiliates applied for and received more than $80 million in funds from the Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program, which was created by Congress to provide relief for small businesses with 500 employees or fewer. Planned Parenthood has more than 16,000 employees nationwide.

“The Paycheck Protection Program is designed to protect small businesses not behemoth organizations with over 16,000 employees,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “Planned Parenthood should return the $80 million in funds.”

According to its most recent annual report, Planned Parenthood reported performing 345,672 abortions for 2018, the most the organization has ever reported. That figure represents 40.1% of all the abortions the Guttmacher Institute says were performed in the U.S. in 2017 (the most recent year available). The abortion giant also reported $1,638,600,000 in revenue for 2018-2019. These figures continue to cement Planned Parenthood’s reputation as the country’s top abortion performer and promoter.

Founded in 1968, the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the federation of 50 state right-to-life affiliates and more than 3,000 local chapters, is the nation’s oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization. Recognized as the flagship of the pro-life movement, NRLC works through legislation and education to protect innocent human life from abortion, infanticide, assisted suicide and euthanasia.
