Jan 11, 2019 | 2019 Press Releases

WASHINGTON – The National Right to Life Committee praised yesterday’s introduction by Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) of legislation to exclude abortion providers, including the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA),  from the Title X program.

Jennifer Popik, J.D. National Right to Life director of federal legislation noted, “We applaud Senator Blackburn for her long history of protecting unborn children while in the U.S. House and look forward to her continued leadership in the Senate.”

The Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, which is supported by National Right to Life, would prohibit funds under the federal Title X  family planning program from going to entities (other than hospitals) that perform abortions.  The entities covered by the bill include, but are not limited to, affiliates of Planned Parenthood. The bill also enhances funding for Community Health Centers.
