We take the time to mention the ramblings of blogger Amanda Marcotte because she gives you the unvarnished truth as seen by the most zealous wing of the pro-abortion movement. Yesterday’s headline over at RHRealityCheck is “Civility? For the Anti-Choice Movement, It’s an Alien Concept.”
Civility is alien to you and me, we learn, because “there’s really no way for anti-choicers to conduct themselves civilly when promoting their cause.” Because? “After all, the cause itself is uncivil…” [emphasis in the original].
And then Marcotte is off to the races, with the usual denunciation of pro-lifers as inhibited dopes whose lone function in life is to impose their “weird religious views” on girls who just wanna have fun.
After indulging in name-calling, Marcotte tells us she’s not interested in name-calling. “My conception of an ideal civil political discourse has less to do with turning down the snark and the name-calling than it does turning up the reliance on facts and reason. If our political system became more civil, it would do serious damage therefore to the anti-choice cause.”
Hmmm. Really? Which side to this debate bases its case on science, biology, peer-reviewed study after study, and an appreciation for and of the human condition (that is, that we all fall short)? Watch “pro-choicers” and pro-lifers debate. The debate never stays on abortion. Typically it won’t take two minutes before the pro-lifer’s motivations, sense of compassion, and ability to reason is called into question.
Still another sign that pro-abortionists are down to their last swing. Having been unable to rebut the case for life, they are reduced to defining us out of polite company. Sad.
