This Week on Pro-Life Perspective: “Episode 7,000: A Bittersweet Celebration”

Wow! Episode # 7,000 of Pro-Life Perspective. Not to coin a phrase but it does seem just like yesterday that National Right aired its first PLP on January 7, 1985.

National Right to Life President and PLP Host Carol Tobias starts Friday’s episode with a thought all pro-lifers share: she wishes there was no need to do a daily five-minute broadcast because legal protection would have  already been returned to unborn babies. And although she wishes there was no need for PLP, Mrs. Tobias reminds the listener of all the big (and small) victories accomplished because of educational outreaches like Pro-Life Perspective.

Mrs. Tobias tells the ‘story behind the story’ of PLP—of the many changes that enhanced technology have made possible. She shares how at one time she and other NRLC Presidents would tape each episode in our little office studio and send the recordings out to a company in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington to do the post-production editing and sound engineering.

One of those “little victories,” was the turnabout of the post-production editor who considered himself pro-choice when he first heard PLP. But after listening to PLP for years, “During conversations with like-minded pro-abortion friends in the ensuing years, he realized that his position had changed dramatically,” Mrs. Tobias explains. “He also realized that his pro-abortion friends had no intelligent way to argue their position and certainly didn’t know the truth about abortion.”

That story is indicative of how our Movement is winning the battle for life, sometimes in huge chunks, more often one man or woman or teen at a time.

Mrs. Tobias closes today program with a big thank you.

“I want to end today by thanking you for your continued efforts on behalf of life.  I’d also like to thank our many station partners across the country who broadcast Pro-Life Perspective as part of their pro-life ministry.  By working together, we have had a tremendous impact on our society and I am certain that together, we will see the day when unborn children are once again granted equal protection under the law.”
