EMILY’s List has announced a new round of candidates it is supporting in the 2012 elections.  EMILY’s List is a pro-abortion political action committee which supports women Democratic candidates who support abortion on demand, partial-birth abortion, and taxpayer funding of abortion. It has a track record of raising large sums of money.

In December, EMILY’s List announced its support of four more candidates:  Rep. Betty Sutton (D-Ohio), former state Rep. Elizabeth Esty (D-Conn.), former Rep. Dina Titus (D-Nev.), and former state Senator Tarryl Clark (D-Minn.).

This brings to thirty the number of candidates EMILY’s List hopes to elect and/or protect in the 2012 elections.

As of now, one-third of the thirty-three U.S. Senate contests already include an EMILY’s List candidate.  Six are incumbent senators and five are challengers.

Pro-abortion incumbent Senators Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), and Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) are on EMILY’s List’s “Protection Project”.  All of these incumbents have scored a 0% rating from National Right to Life during this six-year senate term.

Rep. Shelley Berkley (D-Nev.) is challenging Senator Dean Heller (R-Nev.) and Elizabeth Warren is challenging Senator Scott Brown (R-Mass.).

EMILY’s List candidates are running in three of the open Senate seats:  Rep. Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin, Rep. Mazie Hirono in Hawaii, and former Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz in Connecticut.

While the 2012 election landscape is still shaping up, there’s a lot to be done.  First, the candidates must win their primaries, then face-off in the November 6, 2012 general election.

In 2010, National Right to Life Political Action Committee was actively involved in 130 federal races nationwide, winning 88.  Of those, twenty candidates were in highly competitive races against candidates supported by EMILY’s List.

In fourteen of the twenty head-to-head races (or 70%), the candidate supported by National Right to Life PAC won even though EMILY’s List is notorious for raising and spending huge amounts of money in their elections.

2012 is almost here. Filing deadlines for 2012 have already begun and the congressional primary election season begins in about ten weeks.  The last congressional primaries will take place on September 11, 2012.  To find out when your state’s primary will be held, go to http://www.nrlpac.org/pdf/2012%20Primary%20Dates.pdf  for a complete election calendar.
