National Right to Life News Today
All this week, National Right to Life President and Pro-Life Perspective Host Carol Tobias is joined in studio by Suzanne Schindler, sister of Terri Schindler Schiavo and co-executive director, with her brother, Bobby, of the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network. Suzanne is sharing the latest efforts of the Life & Hope Network and the ongoing work to save patients like Terri from death by starvation & dehydration.
Today’s emphasis is on “New Beginnings,” which is located Medford, New York. Suzanne explained that it is a rehabilitation facility that cares for people like her sister.
They contacted the Network and told them they wanted to dedicate the building to Terri.
To the best of Suzanne’s knowledge, New Beginnings is one of a kind, offering intense rehabilitation to patients just like Terri and even to patients who are in worse condition that Terri.
The key is that typically facilities reach a point where they say that’s “all they can do” for a loved one with traumatic brain injuries. New Beginnings continues to prove rehabilitation and intense treatment “Even after these patients hit a certain point,” Suzanne explained. This is critical because there is so much we don’t know about the brain and how “the brain can rejuvenate itself.”
It is this systemic, intense rehabilitation that is the key. “The progress is unbelievable,” Suzanne said.
