National Right to Life President and Pro-Life Perspective Host Carol Tobias ends her week of looking back at all-things pro-life for 2011 with a look ahead to 2012. Right out of the box Mrs. Tobias frames the issues for this crucial year.
“We know that 2012 will be filled with new challenges. The Iowa Caucuses are only a few days away which will officially kick of the election season in which we’ll elect a president, congressmen, senators, and, in some states, state legislative leaders. Many state legislatures are preparing for their spring legislative sessions which will give pro-life opportunities to pass laws protecting unborn children and their mothers. And we can be sure that pro-abortionists will be on the attack against any new pro-life initiatives.”
The remainder of today’s “Looking Ahead to 2012” provides answers to her question: “So, what can you do?”
You might not know how to register to vote or where to register. Go to http://nrlactioncenter.com/ and click on the “elections & candidates” tab. With the exception of a couple of states, all you need do is download the form, fill it out, and mail it in. Simple as that. (And you can, like me, use this to remind your children, who may have switched addresses, to register.)
Mrs. Tobias explains that registering is only half the battle. Before you go to the poll, you have to educate yourself on where the candidates stand on the life issues. She summarizes the results of that process as “An educated voter is an empowered voter.”
But if we are to help the babies, we need to do more than make sure our entire family and network of pro-life friends are registered and educated. We need to get involved in our local National Right to Life chapter and state right-to-life affiliate. Mrs. Tobias explains
“The successes we experience as a movement happen because of the vast right-to-life network that reaches out to their local communities to educate and motivate concerned citizens. Whether you are able to give financially or with your time and talents, everything you can do to help the right-to-life network makes a difference in the lives of mothers and their unborn children.”
To that end, you can go to www.nrlc.org/states/index.html where you’ll find a link to NRLC’s state right-to-life affiliates. From there you can contact the state organization to put you in touch with your local chapter. “Remember, you are the heart and soul of our movement and your efforts can have a profound impact,” Mrs. Tobias says.
There is much more to listen to, more great opportunities in 2012. Please take five minutes out and listen at www.prolifeperspective.com. Be sure to pass that link along to friends.
Have a wonderful and safe and happy New Year’s Eve. We will talk to you next year.
