Although the March for Life did not take place until today, Sunday marked the 39th anniversary of the hellacious Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions. If you listened to “Pro-Life Perspective” last week (found at or read my summaries of NRLC President Carol Tobias fine series on Roe and Doe, you know from whence these decisions came: a complete lack of respect for the Constitution, a cavalier disregard of the people’s right to govern themselves, and an utter contempt for the lives of unborn children.

There is a treasure trove of information in the current issue of National Right to Life News, now winging its way towards our 360,000 readers. If you are not a subscriber, call us at 202 626 8828 and we will get you the list immediately and send you the latest issue.

I’ve reproduced for our online readers the “Abortion Statistics: United States Data and Trends,” compiled by our great Education Department, which appears in the current NRL News. (See  Dr. Randall K. O’Bannon, having mined the best sources of information for data and insights, estimates that there have been 54,559,615 abortions since 1973.

Over 54 and one half MILLION abortions. That is a number so huge that we can’t really come to grips with it. But what it means is that there are over 3,300 abortions every day—137 per hour–or about one dead baby every thirty seconds.

If it takes you four minutes to read this brief post, abortionists have piled their ugly trade on eight defenseless babies.

You can hyperlink the factsheet or tweet the URL or place it on your Facebook page. Every time you do—EVERY time you do—more Americans will be taught that abortion is not rare—l.2 million a year—and most decidedly not safe for either unborn babies or their mothers.
