Held without bail since his arrest in late January, Justin Adams was charged Monday with two counts of murder in the stabbing deaths of his pregnant wife and her unborn child.
Jaymie Adams, 25, was found dead January 7 in southeast Oklahoma City, according to The Oklahoman newspaper. Pregnant with her fifth child, she was stabbed multiple times and suffered blunt force trauma to the head, according to a spokeswoman for the state medical examiner’s office.
Authorities grew suspicious when Justin Adams lied to them in an interview. “Court documents filed Monday show Justin Adams took out a $100,000 life insurance policy on his wife,” the Oklahoma News reported.”In the second of two interviews with detectives, Adams denied having any insurance on his wife. But an Oklahoma National Guard colonel interviewed six days later told detectives that Adams, a guard member, had a $100,000 life insurance policy on Jaymie Adams that went into effect March 3 of last year.”
In a December 12 interview with police investigators, “Adams repeatedly referred to his missing wife ‘in the past tense,’ even though her body had not been recovered, police reported,” according to the Oklahoman. The newspaper also reported that court documents also show Adams was romantically involved with another woman.
