National Right to Life Endorses Both Mica and Adams in Florida Member-versus- Member Race

May 18, 2012

By Karen Cross, National Right to Life Political Director

National Right to Life is announcing a dual endorsement in Florida’s 7th congressional district Republican primary. National Right to Life is pleased to endorse both Rep. John Mica and Rep. Sandy Adams.

Redistricting has resulted in a situation in which these two prolife incumbent Republican House members are running against each other. The primary election is scheduled for August 14.

During the 110th Congress, both have compiled a 100% pro-life voting record.  This included votes in support of the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act (H.R. 3) and the Protect Life Act (H.R. 358).  They also voted in favor of proposals to cut off federal funding for the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, that nation’s largest provider of abortions.  They voted to repeal the Obama health care law (ObamaCare), which threatens to expand federal subsidies of abortion insurance and to impose rationing of lifesaving medical care.

Both Rep. Mica and Rep. Adams are cosponsors of the District of Columbia Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (H.R. 3803) and the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act (H.R. 1179).

In addition, in past congresses, Rep. Mica has also consistently supported such landmark pro-life legislative achievements as the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, the Unborn Victims of Violence Act, and the Hyde Amendment.  Rep. Adams is a freshman.

This is one of the thirteen “House member versus member” races across the nation due to redistricting. Florida’s 7th congressional district is located in the northern Orlando suburbs.

This seat is considered “solid Republican.”
