What’s airing on Pro-Life Perspective Today? Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, speaking to NRLC Convention 2012, Part One

by | Sep 24, 2012

By Dave Andrusko

Kansas Pro-Life Gov. Sam Brownback.

Carol Tobias, NRLC President & Pro-Life Perspective Host begins this week with one of her favorite events from the 42nd annual National Right to Life convention – the closing banquet. She explains how throughout the three-day-long convention pro-lifers educate themselves on various aspects of the pro-life movement and how we can best fight the good fight, but that “the closing banquet offers us something different. It encourages us and gives us the strength to do everything we can to make sure the weakest among us are protected. This year was no different.”

She is talking about Kansas Governor Sam Brownback, a pro-life warrior both in the United States Senate and in the state of Kansas, where he has already signed five pieces of pro-life legislation in just his first eighteen months. “He roused us with his personal experiences in the pro-life movement and tales of victory in his own state and elsewhere,” Mrs. Tobias tells her listeners. “Though we may have been exhausted from the tireless defense of life, we left the banquet feeling re-energized and ready to confront the special challenges we face this year.”

You will want to listen to Gov. Brownback in his own voice at www.prolifeperspective.com. His opening statement helps us understand the tremendous breakthrough pro-lifers made in the 2010 elections, not just in Congress but also in states across the nation. Brownback told his audience

“You are a fabulous Movement, doing great work, and we are winning!  And I can tell you, from the countryside, we’re winning really big.  So I hope you feel enthused about that and encouraged about that.  I came in with a wave in ’94 in Congress; this was the first Republican Congress since Dwight Eisenhower was president that I came in with, and I thought that was great – and it was.  The group of Governors I came in with in 2010 is almost an equal wave with it, and there is more pro-life legislation that’s passing out – and being signed now instead of vetoed – than you’ve seen in a long time, and more to come! So, you’re winning.”

We’ll continue sharing more of Governor Sam Brownback’s closing address to the NRLC 2012 banquet over the next couple of days.
