A day ago, Gallup led off its story about Mitt Romney’s four point lead over President Barack Obama by noting, “The race for president is about tied among likely voters — markedly different from 2008, when Barack Obama won by seven percentage points. Compared with 2008, support for Obama is down sharply among men, college graduates, and Southern voters.”

Actually, as we discussed yesterday, compared to 2008, the President is also down among Catholics, Protestants, Whites, 30-49 year olds, those 50 to 64, and for good measure voters 65 and older.

Today Gallup reports that Romney’s four point margin has increased to six points. According to Gallup, “Each seven-day rolling average is based on telephone interviews with approximately 2,700 likely voters; margin of error is ±2 percentage points.”

In addition, the latest poll from Marquette University has President Obama’s lead over Gov. Romney in Wisconsin is down to one point—49% to 48%.
