Happy news is truly timeless. I put this story in my “to do” file and then managed to forget to write about “Miracle Baby” Noah Ignacio Guzman. It’s a great story.

Noah’s mother, Jocelyn Robinson, arrived via ambulance at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago early Thanksgiving morning, suffering from severe complications and heavy bleeding. “I was scared,” she told ABC. “I really, really was.”

Doctors immediately carried out an ultrasound–and made a frightful discovery. “’I had to sort of be very honest with her and say, ‘We don’t have a heartbeat,’” Dr. Kimberly Sampson of Sinai Medical Group told the Daily Mail.

At Jocelyn Robinson’s insistence another doctor carried out the test again but with the same sad results. “When they told me he passed away, I just started crying,” the baby’s father, Ignacio Guzman, said.

Doctor soon discovered that Robinson had placenta previa, a condition where the placenta blocks the cervix. They immediately got to work to save Robinson, who was bleeding heavily.

“Surgery was underway when Dr. Sampson said she saw the baby gasp–once, and then again,” reported Lydia Warren of the Daily Mail. “Immediately her team responded to the baby, who was born alive and placed in intensive care.” Noah Ignacio Guzman arrived at 3:12 a.m.

“I [will] never forget this day… Thanksgiving Day, and my baby is born,” said Guzman.

A smiling Robinson told Warren, “You know, everybody’s happy, everybody’s crying now, because it was life.” She added, “I am very blessed – I really, really am. God heard my prayers.”

Dr. Sampson concluded, “It’s a miracle, you can’t say anything other than that.”
