Abortionist again tries to blame others for horrific conditions of his abortion clinic

Robert Alexander’s Women’s Medical Services

Okay. Granted I implied yesterday that we’d written the last about Robert Alexander’s now-closed Woman’s Medical Services abortion clinic in Muskegon, Michigan. What else is left?

We know what a disgusting hole his abortion clinic was, thanks to’s Freedom of Information Act inquiry. And yesterday we learned that Alexander is being sued for two “failed” abortions, one of which was resulted in a happy ending (the child is now a healthy three year old), the other a very sad ending (the mother subsequently went to a hospital where “after more than four hours of labor, the woman delivered a stillborn baby who was missing the skull, brain and other body parts, the document shows“).

So, if you are Robert Alexander—and the local newspapers are running 19 photos of the hellacious conditions at your abortion clinic—what do you do/say? Reopen? Naw, even though he ran a “poll” asking local residents if he should, Alexander has no plans, according to Eric Gaertner of

Option Two? Try a ploy that hasn’t worked so far, either with the local media or city of Muskegon officials: insist the horrific conditions (blood everywhere, biohazard materials and hypodermic needles unsecured, and patient records strewn throughout the office) are  the product of “ a crime scene,” as Alexander told Gaertner. “They can’t hold me accountable for this. By no means did I leave it like this.”

He went on, according to Gaertner. “If someone breaks into your house and steals stuff, it’s a crime scene,” Alexander said, blaming the possible break-in for the condition of his clinic. “No doctor in this day and time would leave an office like this.”

Hmmm. Let’s see if that is plausible.

The abortion clinic was closed December 26. According to stories that ran that week, Muskegon police officers noticed the alleged violations in responding to an “unrelated service call.”

They contacted the fire marshal after entering the building. The order revoking the abortion clinic’s operating license came after the fire marshal and building inspector later investigated and found potential fire-, health- and building-code violations, according to Jeffrey Lewis, Muskegon’s director of public safety.

Later stories explained that a breaking and entering incident brought police to Women’s Medical Services. Although he had no proof, that did not stop Alexander from “alleg[ing] that [a pro-life] group may have been involved in the break-in being investigated by police.”

Note that it was Alexander himself who phoned police about a possible break-in, according to a press release Muskegon police issued.

Two things. First, as we wrote about yesterday, the woman’s whose child survived the abortion, Sheria McCloud, said the photos of the abortion clinic recently released show the kind of conditions she saw three years ago.

“He tried to put me in a room,” she told Kolker. “It was blood all over the floor, all on the table, and I said, ‘Are you serious? I’m not fixing to lay on this table.'”

Second, consider the extent of the disrepair. Gaertner writes

“According to police reports released to MLive and The Muskegon Chronicle after a Freedom of Information Act request, police investigating the broken door reported unsanitary conditions throughout the clinic, including used hypodermic needles in unsecured containers, ‘blood on the floor and walls in multiple locations’ as well as dripping from a sink trap in a patient room, and ‘uncovered buckets containing unknown fluids’ in the operating room.”

And, as we wrote last week, after the initial entry by patrol officers, a police detective reported seeing “dried bloody handprints on the ultrasound machine and smears and blood splatters on the walls and floors throughout the business,” according to John S. Hausman of the Muskegon Chronicle..

Clearly, the responsibility for the havoc cannot be blamed on anyone else.
