“John Collins, 27, is currently being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail on felony charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, child endangerment and making threats. …[Collins] allegedly smashed windows out of his pregnant ex-girlfriend’s car while she was inside it, then hit her in the stomach with a baseball bat.”

From combined media accounts, including in Sacramento, California.

What else is there to say about such incredible alleged brutality? Actually, a lot more which, in some ways, is almost worse. According to the ElkGrove Patch, a local newspaper, Collins went to the house of his ex-girlfriend to exchange custody of their child.

Elk Grove police said she fled after an argument broke out and Collins broke some of the car windows of the victim’s car while she was in it, along with an unspecified number of small children. Collins pursued. According to the newspaper,

“[Collins] then armed himself with a baseball bat and struck [the victim] in the stomach,” the crime log states. “[The victim] is seven months pregnant. Several witnesses intervened and tried to get [Collins] to put down the baseball bat. Officers arrived and took [Collins] into custody. [The victim] was transported to a local area hospital.”

Reportedly, she and the baby were miraculously not injured.

According to California Penal Code 187 (a), ”Murder is the unlawful killing of a human being, or a fetus, with malice aforethought.”
