Live Action unveils third shocking video, more evidence abortionists would not assist baby who survives an abortion

Live Action today released a third in its “Inhuman” undercover video investigations in which an Arizona abortion center counselor is shown admitting they would not help the baby that survives an abortion.

Footage taken at Dr. Laura Mercer ‘s Family Planning Associates Medical Group in Phoenix, Arizona, follows on the heels of two videos taken at the Women’s Health Center in the Bronx, New York, and the offices of Washington, DC abortionist Cesare Santangelo. Both also indicated they would not assist abortion survivors.

When asked by the undercover investigator (who is 24 weeks pregnant) what would happen if the baby were to survive the abortion, the abortion center counselor at Mercer’s abortion clinic first concedes on the video that this does happen. On the video provided by Live Action, you can hear the woman (Linda) saying

“Sometimes they are [alive], yeah. But it doesn’t–it doesn’t necessarily mean that it will come out whole. ‘Cause they use suction, plus they use instruments so sometimes the fetuses don’t come out–you know, it’s not complete…”

Investigator: But if it does come out whole…I mean, are–will they resuscitate it? Like, will I have to take care of it?”

Linda: Uh-uh… No…They do not resuscitate.”

Later in the video, Mercer shown telling the undercover Live Action investigator

“We do the injection, which is a quick poke through your belly, um, and that stops the fetal heart, so that makes it so, if you were to deliver, there shouldn’t be movement. There shouldn’t be any of those things… Yes we induce a demise–an intrauterine demise… Um, death.”

The Live Action investigator then asks if the mother goes into labor during the two-day procedure, whether an ambulance should be called. Mercer instructs the investigator not to call:

“No, call us first…if you showed up in an average emergency room with an emergency room physician who’s not a gynecologist, probably has never seen or done a termination, they will treat you as though you are somebody with a desired pregnancy…”

“Investigator: So they would basically like try to take care of it.” According to the video:

“Mercer: Right they would intervene and do all kinds of crazy things that you don’t need to have done to you…”

“This video is just the latest evidence of a disturbing and horrifying trend occurring inside America’s abortion industry,” said Lila Rose of Lila Action. “The horrors of the Kermit Gosnell trial are a widespread problem in this industry. Dismembering and destroying innocent children, leaving born babies to die, injecting poison into the chest of a tiny child so that he slowly dies in his own mother’s womb – this is all standard operating procedure in the abortion industry. But these children are human beings. They have the same basic human rights and deserve the same protections all of us enjoy.”

Indeed, the response to the question what did they do with a live birth in the prior two videos were every bit as shocking.

According to the video abortionist Cesare Santangelo said

“You know, there are certain things you do. Obviously, you’re here for a certain procedure [an abortion] and if your pregnancy were—Let’s say you went into labor, the membranes ruptured, and you delivered before we got to the termination part of the procedure here, you know? Then … we would not help it.”

A clinician from the Women’s Health Center in the Bronx, New York, was asked by a pregnant Live Action investigator what should she do if at the end of the first day of what is supposed to be a two-day abortion she goes home and “it” just “pops out.”

The clinician responded, “If it come out, then it comes out. Flush it!”

However there is one other remark from Santangelo has not received the attention it merits.

After explaining to the Live Action investigator that he wouldn’t help an abortion survivor, he contrasts what would be required if the woman delivered a live baby in Virginia. The exchange went like this, according to the video:

Santangelo: Whereas, if you were in a hospital in Virginia, let’s say, and you went into labor, and you went to the hospital, and then they saw you deliver, they would do everything possible to help the fetus survive.

“Investigator: OK, but you won’t?

“Santangelo: We wouldn’t here.

Investigator: OK.

Santangelo: Y’know? And that’s happened before, to tell you the truth.

Investigator: Really?

Santangelo: Yeah, where, y’know, uh, we’ve had patients that, you know, on the second day of the laminaria they, they got some contractions and they panicked, and they were in Virginia at the hospital—and they went to the hospital, because they had some pains, instead of calling me, you know? And just went to the hospital. And the hospital helped them to deliver! Which was the stupidest thing they could have done.”
