The Unsafe Abortion Protection Act Now Heads to House Floor

On Wednesday, HB388, the Unsafe Abortion Protection Act, passed unanimously from the House Health and Welfare Committee.

Testifying on behalf of HB 388 with Representative Jackson were the following experts:

Kathy Kliebert, Secretary, Department of Health and Hospitals

Doctor Robert Marier, Former Head of State Board of Medical Examiners

Doctor Damon Cudihy, Lafayette OB/GYN, with knowledge of medical complications of abortion.

Dorinda Bordlee, Vice President, Chief Counsel, Bioethics Defense Fund

Cindy Collins, Slidell Pregnancy Help Center and Abortion Recovery Alliance

Benjamin Clapper, Executive Director of Louisiana Right to Life, said the following about the hearing:

“We are pleased that the House Health and Welfare Committee see the value of HB 388 to protect the health and safety of women in Louisiana. Our team of physicians and attorneys offers an authoritative perspective on abortion, the abortion industry, and the need for standards that HB 388 will put in place.”

HB 388 will now head to the House Floor for consideration.
