In the wake of having his “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it” assurance designated 2013’s “Lie of the year,” it probably shouldn’t surprise us that a Fox News Poll released Wednesday found “About six in ten American voters think Barack Obama lies to the country on important matters some or most of the time.”

Still, it’s stunning that 37% thinks Obama lies “most of the time,” while another 24% of 1,012 registered voters told the pollster that Obama lies “some of the time.”

From the President’s perspective—and surely from the vulnerable Democrats running in the fall—perhaps what’s more ominous is, as Fox News’s Dana Blanton wrote

“The number of voters saying Obama lies “most of the time” includes 13 percent of Democrats. It also includes 12 percent of blacks, 16 percent of liberals, 31 percent of unmarried women and 34 percent of those under age 30 — all key Obama constituencies.”

On the plus side, for Democrats, is that Obama’s job approval numbers rose from 40% last month to 42%. Of course that also means that 51% still disapprove of his job performance. And a paltry 32% of the much coveted Independents approve of his job performance.

How about favorability numbers? According to the poll, 51% had an unfavorable opinion of Mr. Obama, 45% a favorable opinion. Just 39% of Independents expressed a favorable opinion of the President.
