Celebrity “reality shows” ordinarily take to controversy like a duck to water. But it was not long after a pregnant….aspiring model…said she would abort to increase her chances of appearing on “Celebrity Big Brother” than the British television program insisted Josie Cunningham would not appear.

It all started when Cunningham insisted to the Sunday Mirror that prior to becoming pregnant, she’d been on the short list to appear in the upcoming season’s edition of Celebrity Big Brother (“Big Brother,” for short).

“Channel 5 were keen to shortlist me, then they found out I was pregnant,” she said. “Then they suddenly turned cold. That was when I started considering an abortion. After the operation I will be going back to them and asking if they will still consider me,” Cunningham said.

“I’m finally on the verge of becoming famous and I’m not going to ruin it now,” she told The Mirror. “An abortion will further my career. This time next year I won’t have a baby. Instead, I’ll be famous, driving a bright pink Range Rover and buying a big house. Nothing will get in my way.”

But a “source” told The Sun newspaper, “Josie is deluded if she thinks this will improve her chances of signing up, which were slim to non-existent to start with.” The source added, “How can we work with her — or pay her — if she admits having an abortion to achieve that? It would be a minefield.”

If the whole sad story weren’t awful enough, last month Cunningham revealed she was pregnant–posting an image of her baby’s scan to her Twitter followers—the same baby she would soon be vowing to abort.

It doesn’t take a clinical psychologist (although Cunningham could probably use one) to figure out that the 23-year-old “escort” was now on one of those downward slides that are so familiar to American audiences, in the process thoroughly enjoying the backlash her conduct has stoked.

She told The Mirror that “she drew the attention of ‘Big Brother’ in 2013 when she demanded that the U.K.’s publicly funded National Health Service pay several thousand dollars so she could have breast enhancement surgery and become a glamour model.” Public resistance grew exponentially when it was learned that at the same time NHS was “refusing to fund surgery that would enable a two-year-old girl with a form of cerebral palsy to walk.”

According to The Daily Mail, when she learned pregnant women are entitled to free dental care, Cunningham said she would be “applying to receive a variety of procedures on the NHS.”

“I didn’t get pregnant to have my teeth sorted, but it’s a massive bonus,” she told The Sun. “I’m sure people will be annoyed that I’m accepting this freebie but I couldn’t care less.”

The Daily Mail reported that Cunningham, who is 18 weeks pregnant, said that she was annoyed the free dental care would only cover a silver filling, but added: “I guess beggars can’t be choosers.”

But all that was prelude to her shocking statement that the mother of two other children was preparing to abort to advance her career. Indeed, the angrier the public backlash, the more it appeared to fuel Cunningham’s determination to gloat.

Here’s the conclusion to a story that appeared in the Christian Post.

“She says now that she has decided to do the abortion, she hopes that ‘Big Brother’ will consider her. She is also prepared for rejection as well.

“’If not, I have a documentary which will hopefully be done towards the end of the year and another reality TV show is interested,’ she said….

“’All those people who have trolled me and hated me for being me are going to be put in their place when I make it. Why should I give that up to have a baby?’”
