babyshoes09The local CBS affiliate in Detroit is reporting today that police found the body of a baby, between one and three days old, in a dumpster in the nearby suburb of Roseville.

According to police, workers were separating the recyclables Wednesday night when a bundle came through the sort line.

“When the workers opened the bundle to ascertain the contents, they were shocked to find a newborn baby,” police said in a statement.

Police told WWJ that the child had no visible signs of trauma. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

This is only the latest in a series of dead babies found in dumpsters. As NRL News Today reported Wednesday, on Sunday a neighbor, collecting cans, found what witnesses said looked like the body of a third trimester baby. Stockton, California police later said the baby girl—named “Heaven” by a distraught bystander –was appropriately 27 weeks gestation.

And back in December a woman had bid $40 on an abandoned storage unit in Colfax, California. When she opened it up, she found what turned out to be the remains of two babies.
