Just a week after the bodies of two children were found inside a freezer in a Detroit apartment, the body of an apparently full-term baby was discovered in a bag in the desk drawer of a temp working at Ceva Logistics in Glendale, Michigan.

Employees who would not go on camera told FOX 2 that it started Tuesday afternoon when they heard moaning coming from the woman’s bathroom. When they investigated they found blood all over the bathroom stall.

They rushed back to the office to find out if everyone was okay. Only one woman  at first didn’t answer, a 26-year-old from Wyandotte. No one knew had been pregnant.

Redford police were called and discovered the young woman, who did have blood on her, had returned to her cubicle.

She had attempted to resume her workday, but there was no sign of a baby until they checked the Ceva employee’s bag, which was tucked under her cubicle desk.

The baby was taken to the hospital “where attempts to resuscitate it were unsuccessful and it was pronounced dead.” The 25-year-old mother, “who is now under investigation, is recovering at the hospital.”

Meanwhile, WWJ, the local CBS radio affiliate, reported today that Judge Kenneth King has ordered a competency exam for 35-year-old Mitchelle Blair, the Detroit mother charged in the slayings of two of her children whose bodies were found in a deep freezer.

Blair appeared in court today for a probable cause hearing in the deaths of 13-year-old Stoni Ann Blair and 9-year-old Stephen Gage Berry.

“Investigators believe Stephen died in August 2012 and Stoni died the following May,” WWJ reported. “Blair’s two surviving children — a 17-year-old girl and 8-year-old boy — have been placed into a relative’s care. The state also made a filing last week to end Blair’s parental rights.”

Investigators were told by the older of the two surviving children that Blair tortured Stephen before killing him and the following year strangled Stoni.

According to WWJ’s Vickie Thomas, Blair was formally charged with felony murder, first degree premeditated murder, torture, and child abuse.

A not guilty plea was entered on her behalf. WWJ and the Associated Press reported

Blair — who has the names of her children tattooed on her arm, including the ones she supposedly murdered — was ordered held without bond ahead of a June 19 court appearance.

Talking to reporters following Thursday’s arraignment, [Blair’s attorney Wyatt] Harris was asked about his client’s mental state.

“There are times when she can communicate in a very effective manner, and there are times where she can’t,” Harris said.

Has she expressed any regret?

“I haven’t asked her to do that,” Harris said.
