We are in the closing hours before we send out the digital edition of the April issue of National Right to Life News. So the following will be short although not particularly sweet.
I’m told by our Kansan friends that Rhonda Holman is one of those always wrong/never apologize pro-abortion editorial page types for the Wichita Eagle. Her bitter remarks today came after Gov. Sam Brownback signed SB95, the Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act.
Of the 606 words, 424 grouse about the cost of fighting legal challenges and previous costly challenges. Two quick points.
First, you could yank Holman’s nails out, one by one, and she still wouldn’t write the name of the bill. Why? Because the bill is about a ghastly abortion “technique” that separates arms from torsos, feet from legs as the child bleeds to death. That’s why the word “dismemberment” is used.
By that standard, yanking out nails is like a leisurely trip to the pedicurist.
Second, does anyone in his or her right mind think that if the shoe were on the other foot–if it were pro-abortion legislation that had just been passed–that Holman would be so worried about taxpayer dollars being used to defend the law? Would she end her phony baloney indignation rant with “and despite the projected $600 million state budget shortfall for next fiscal year”?
Of course not.
Kathy Ostrowski, legislative director, Kansans for Life, addressed the shedding of crocodile tears by pro-abortionists back in late 2013. There are considerable costs because deep-pocketed pro-abortion advocacy groups challenge every law, multiple times, at multiple levels of the judicial system.
States do have an “option,” as Kathy explained: “The alternative is to allow pro-abortionists to win by default, even when they do not have a legal leg to stand on!”
Amen.
Once again, congratulations to Kansans for Life!!
