May’s Digital National Right to Life News is jammed packed

May 12, 2015

By Dave Andrusko

May2015FrontcoverIt’s now up–all 39 pages of it–the May online edition of National Right to Life News.

The last hours are always hectic. They were particularly chaotic this month because we were putting out the latest digital edition of the “pro-life newspaper of record” at the same NRL News Today was paying loads of attention to Wednesday’s consideration in the House of Representatives of H.R. 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act [for example, nrlc.cc/1K4Pccl, nrlc.cc/1K4PhwW, and nrlc.cc/1FiLH0X].

Besides coverage of H.R. 36, what’s in the May issue? What’s not?

We continue to provide a friendly reminder to pro-lifers about July’s gathering of the pro-life family–the annual National Right to Life Convention–held this year in New Orleans, Louisiana. We have two stories–on page one and page 13.

If you haven’t registered for the July 9-11 convention, please do now! The form is found on page 10. You can also go directly to nrlconvention.com.

We have complete coverage as well of the bills banning dismemberment abortions in Kansas and Oklahoma. These are historic measures which have pro-abortionists deeply concerned.

NRL News has a lengthy story about a new study showing that 23% of preemies born at 22 weeks survive if hospitals “actively” treat them. For a follow up story, see nrlc.cc/1EBhbsv.

Then Jennifer Popik, JD, explains how “the denial-of-treatment practices in many hospitals are directly contrary to the protective provisions of federal law designed to prevent discriminatory denial of treatment based on present or projected disability.” National Right to Life is the only publication highlighting this otherwise neglected (and deeply troublesome) truth.

Each day we’re posting a story from the edition–today’s it’s Joleigh Little’s terrific profile of Rachel-Campos Duffy who is opening the NRLC convention. We will be talking more about the issue’s content all this week.

Please read May’s NRL News [www.nrlc.org/uploads/NRLNews/NRLNewsMay2015.pdf] and pass stories (indeed, the whole issue) along to your pro-life family, friends, and colleagues.
