Four indicted in brutal forced abortion of 13-year-old rape victim

cedric-sharon-jones  Not surprisingly, we received considerable response last month when we posted about the forced abortion of a teenage girl so brutal we only partially described what had happened in 2013 to the then 13-year-old girl who had been raped and was eight months pregnant.

On Monday, four of the girl’s relatives were indicted. Sharon Lee Jones and her son Cedric Jones, Cecila McDonald and her husband Lonnell McDonald, were  all charged with engaging in organized crime. “The underlying crime is aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, alleged to be the defendants’ hands and feet, according to the grand jury indictments,” reported  Naomi Martin of the Dallas Morning News.

But that does not even begin to suggest how horrific was the young girl’s ordeal. “Police say the relatives beat and kicked the girl for six hours, [in 2013] leading her to give birth to a stillborn baby, which they then tried to burn on a charcoal grill to cover up their crime,” Martin reported.

The beatings did not end until the girl began to bleed heavily, police say. Two hours later, her baby was stillborn.

As we reported previously [www.nationalrighttolifenews.org/news/2015/06/four-charged-in-brutal-forced-abortion-of-13-year-old-rape-victim/#more-43971], last May a woman who said she witnessed the assault took the girl, who is now 16, to police. This was two years after the forced abortion and three years after she was raped.

“She said she stayed quiet because she was embarrassed,” Martin reported. “She’s now in the custody of Child Protective Services, along with six other children from the family, ages 15, 14, 9, 7, 6 and 3.”

Although arrested on a charge of aggravated sexual assault, Robert Joseph Cayald, the rape suspect, has not been indicted.

The local NBC affiliate reported that, according to an arrest warrant, once the four family members discovered the girl was pregnant,

she was given multiple doses of birth control pills, emergency conception pills and cinnamon tablets by one of the suspects in an attempt to abort the baby.

The girl told police that because that didn’t work, the suspects beat her for six hours and she ended up giving birth to a stillborn child.

The family then attempted to cover up the crime by burning the 8-month old stillborn baby on a charcoal grill at a home in Pleasant Grove in Dallas, according to police.

NBC News 5 reported that the woman who helped file the police report

told authorities the girl was crying in extreme pain during the beating. The affidavit said one of the suspects told the girl to “shut up” and cry into a pillow during the assault.

The four relatives pinned the girl’s arms down, according to a police affidavit, while Lonnell McDonald sat on her stomach, “repeatedly bouncing up and down.” The family members kicked and punched her stomach as well.

Cecila McDonald told the girl, “You ain’t about to get my kids taken away from me,” as Lonnell McDonald laughed, according to the affidavit .

According to the affidavit, when the girl became pregnant, the four relatives “became very nervous,” worried that Child Protective Services would take their children away.
