What a week for SB 10, West Virginia’s Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act!

Monday saw a public hearing in the House chamber which pitted the testimonies of pro-life advocates against the opposition.

Tuesday the bill was in the House Health Committee where several bad amendments were offered. But all were rejected and the bill passed out on voice vote to the House Judiciary Committee.

In Judiciary on Wednesday, SB 10 gained even more momentum as it passed by a 19-6 margin. The bill is on first reading today with second reading (the amendment stage) and third reading yet to go. It is likely that final passage will either be Monday or Tuesday.

Originally, West Virginians for Life (WVFL) had been informed that final passage would be on Saturday. However, those of you who are seasoned veterans to the legislative process, know that anything can happen. Now it may be on second reading instead.

Second reading is really the most exciting because it is the amendment-offering stage, which lends itself to incredible floor debate. WVFL will do its best to keep you informed as to when second, third and final passage will be.

Be sure to pray for and thank the pro-life legislators who will be standing for the truth as they debate on second reading.
