Pro-abortion running mates, Sen. Tim Kaine and Hillary Clinton

Could we say there is a slight discrepancy at work here? 60 minutes attack dog Leslie Stahl, whose middle initial “R” stands for Relentlessly pro-abortion bias, interviews Donald Trump and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence while 60 minutes’ Scott Pelley lobs such tough questions to Hillary Clinton’s pro-abortion vice presidential choice Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine, as “Senator, in a sense, we’re introducing you to 49 states. What hardship has formed your character?

Clearly one of the hardships is not the love fest Kaine and Clinton enjoyed yesterday with Pelley, who is also the anchor of CBS News, whose bias is usually not so abundantly obvious.

What to say about the choice of pro-abortion Sen. Kaine? Besides the fact that the Abortion Industry is lining up behind him? (They know one of their own. See below.)

Here are the obvious talking points.

#1. Virginia is a swing state. Yes. How much difference Kaine will make is anyone’s guess.

#2. Kaine is Catholic and speaks Spanish. The job of pro-lifers is not to allow Kaine to use his faith as camouflage to hide his opposition to his church’s historic resistance to the taking of innocent unborn life.

#3. Somehow Kaine will cut into Clinton’s massive deficit among white men. In a kind of bizarre twist on the Stepford Wives motif, just as women are supposed to dutifully vote for Hillary because she’s a woman, somehow because Kaine has an X and a Y chromosome, more men will mindlessly vote for Hillary.

Good luck on that.

Finally, paired with an ethically challenged top of the ticket….

#4. Kaine is “A scandal-free former governor,” according to the Washington Post’s Paul Schwartzman.

True, he was not indicted, but consider what POLITICO’s Isaac Arnsdorf had to say back at the end of June when Kaine’s name was being floated.

Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine took advantage of the state’s lax gift laws to receive an $18,000 Caribbean vacation, $5,500 in clothes and a trip to watch George Mason University play in the NCAA basketball Final Four during his years as lieutenant governor and governor, according to disclosures he filed.

Now a leading contender to be Hillary Clinton’s running mate, Kaine reported more than $160,000 in gifts from 2001 to 2009, mostly for travel to and from political events and conferences, according to disclosures compiled by the Virginia Public Access Project. The givers included political supporters, a drug company that soon after bought a facility in Virginia, and Dominion, the state’s biggest provider of electricity.

What’s not so favorable?

#1. In Spanish or English, Kaine’s records shouts out his support for abortion. As soon as Clinton tweeted out Friday that Kaine was her voice, NRLC responded with the truth [].

For example, NRLC President Carol Tobias clarified that “Like Hillary Clinton, Sen. Kaine is so extreme on abortion he opposes even the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, legislation to protect unborn children from abortion after 20 weeks, when they are capable of feeling excruciating pain during dismemberment or other late abortion methods.”

As Senator, Kaine has missed no opportunity to burnish his credentials with the Abortion Industry and the Democrat Party. For instance he voted to allow government funding of abortion providers, and he voted against legislation to require an abortionist to notify at least one parent before performing an abortion on a minor girl from another state.

And this is not old news. Kaine’s enthusiasm for abortion recently took the form of co-sponsorship of the so-called “Women’s Health Protection Act” (S.217), known to pro-lifers as the “Abortion Without Limits Until Birth Act.” This bill would nullify nearly all existing state and federal limitations on regulation of abortion, and prohibit states from enacting meaningful pro-life laws in the future. This revamped version of the long-stalled “Freedom of Choice Act” is a priority of the pro-abortion forces in Washington, D.C.

Please don’t just glide over those scary facts. Kaine comes across as mild-mannered and almost demur. His votes speak volumes–and loudly. Don’t protect pain-capable unborn children and do your best to gut every protective measure our Movement has enacted over almost 40 years.

Like Hillary Clinton, he envisions a barren, anti-life legislative landscape. That’s what passes for a “moderate” Democrat.

2. According to CBS News

On the heels of the Republican convention, Democratic Hillary Clinton announced that Sen. Tim Kaine would be her vice presidential running mate – something that was received positively by voters, especially Democrats. In interviews conducted on Saturday and Sunday, 49 percent of Democrats are glad Hillary Clinton has picked Kaine as her running mate, as are 31 percent of voters overall.

After Pence’s appearance at their party’s convention, Republican voters are also pleased with their nominee’s choice of running mate. Sixty-one percent of Republicans are glad that Donald Trump picked Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his running mate, while just 15 percent wish he had named someone else.

So, 12% more Republicans are glad Trump chose Indiana Gov. Mike Pence than Democrats were glad Clinton selected Kaine. The flip-side is not spelled out: 25% of Democrats said they wished Clinton had chosen someone else, as compared to 15% of Republicans who wished Trump had chosen someone other than Pence.

Given the tumult that has already engulfed the Democratic convention, that may prove to be no small consideration.

#3. One other huge consideration.

According to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund

Hillary is already an unwavering, outspoken champion for women and families, and together she and Tim Kaine will be a champion team for the American people. As former Governor and current U.S. Senator from Virginia, Tim Kaine has been a strong advocate for reproductive health and rights, and has a 100% rating on the Planned Parenthood Action Fund scorecard.

Senator Kaine supports access to affordable birth control and has consistently voted to ensure women have access to safe, legal abortion care. For years, he has opposed efforts in Congress to block patient access at Planned Parenthood health centers. He says, “I’m a strong supporter of Roe v. Wade and women being able to make these decisions. In government, we have enough things to worry about. We don’t need to make people’s reproductive decisions for them.”
