Last Wednesday, a three-judge panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court ruling that blocked the state’s effort to cut off funding to Planned Parenthood.

“It’s disappointing that federal judges are interfering with Louisiana’s ability to determine what ethical standards they require of those who contract with the state,” said Deanna Wallace, Louisiana Right to Life Legislative Director.

“There’s no mention in the 5th Circuit’s opinion of the hundreds of other healthcare options Louisiana women can rely on to provide them services, nor does the court acknowledge that Planned Parenthood wants to sell the New Orleans community 2,844 abortions each year,” she added.

“Louisiana should be able to say that Planned Parenthood is not someone they want to do business with.”
