Some of the superstars of the pro-life movement rarely make headlines–they are the conscientious volunteers who, year in and year out, donate their time and talents to rebuild a Culture of Life in America.
To me, one of these heroes is a woman I will call “Dee.” For decades, Dee has been a tireless advocate of the right to life. She is an eloquent spokeswoman, a gifted persuader, and a champion of the forgotten–preborn babies and their mothers…the frail elderly…and people with disabilities.
It is so heartwarming to see her come into our office at the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, a smile on her face, ready to make call after call to encourage fellow pro-lifers to do what they can to educate their friends, family members, and neighbors about the stands of the current crop of political candidates on the life issues.
Dee has toiled through her fair share of election cycles, but she considers this one to be the most important election in her life. So much is at stake–the White House, the shape of the U.S. Supreme Court, control of the U.S. House and Senate, along with many state legislative and executive offices.
So she makes dozens of phone calls, pleading with people to take this election seriously, to educate themselves, and to refrain from any temptation to stay home on Election Day.
I have learned quite a bit from Dee: How to joyfully proclaim the pro-life message. How to get people to care about the fate of preborn babies and their mothers. How to cope with the many challenges that come with pro-life work.
But the most important lesson I have learned from Dee is perseverance. She has a lifetime commitment to safeguarding the right to life–In fact, she earned a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation, an affiliate of National Right to Life.
We simply cannot rest until every single human life is protected under the law…until every pregnant woman knows she has life-affirming options and support…until Roe v. Wade, the tragic Supreme Court ruling which legalized abortion, is tossed into the ash heap of history.
I know Dee won’t be resting until that day. May it be the same for each one of us.

Thank you for making these critical calls and sending these important emails!
Some are calling Archbishop Charles Chaput’s speech at the 2016 Celebrate Life Banquet one of the best pro-life speeches ever.
