Under the category of “What is the definition of insanity–doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different results”–House Democrats this morning gave militant pro-abortionist Nancy Pelosi (Ca.) another term as House Minority Leader.

Pelosi needed a two-thirds vote to beat back the challenge of pro-abortion Tim Ryan (Ohio). The finally tally, taken by secret ballot, was 134-63.

During a media briefing prior to the leadership vote, Ryan said, “If we don’t wake up and smell the coffee, we’re going to be the minority party, the opposition party, for a long time to come,” adding, “That’s just the reality.”

Other parts of the “reality” are that Pelosi’s prediction of a 10-20 seat gain in the House turned out to be a paltry 6 seats. And here’s more “reality”: there are more than 60 fewer Democrats in the House than there were six years ago and 1929 was the last year there were these few Democrats in the House. No wonder Ryan’s basic pitch was that Democrats are getting “shellacked.”

According to POLITICO

“Everything we care about [is] at risk,” California Rep. Adam Schiff said in his nominating speech for Pelosi. “We need the very best to lead us…No one is a better tactician than Nancy Pelosi.”

The irony is, as many have pointed out, with Democrats having lost massive numbers of Representatives from the Heartland and the South, the Democratic caucus is now overwhelmingly filled with ultra-liberal members from the most liberal states in the nation, primarily the Northeast and the West coast. If this decimation/self-selection continues apace, Pelosi could be House Minority Leader for life.

POLITICO quotes Rep. Stephen Lynch, a Ryan supporter, who encapsulated the party’s grim prospects: “We talk more about free-range chickens than we talk about working people.”
