Call it “the Pennsylvania Miracle.” In a stunning victory which has rocked the birthplace of American democracy , after 28 years of pro-abortion Democratic Presidential candidates carrying the Keystone State, the Commonwealth delivered its 20 electoral votes to the pro-life Republican standard-bearer, Donald Trump.

Yes, the margin of victory was as thin as a thread—one percentage point—but it was enough to change the course of history. The victory helped to propel a man to the White House who has pledged to appoint U.S. Supreme Court Justices who will strictly interpret the Constitution as the Founding Fathers wrote it, rather than re-write it, according to their own political preferences.

And the shock and awe of Election 2016 for the people of Pennsylvania did not end with the Presidential race. Republican U.S. Senator Pat Toomey, who has a 100 percent pro-life voting record, proved the pollsters wrong with his slim but momentous victory over the abortion industry-backed Katie McGinty.

McGinty was so radical on abortion that she even wrote an op-ed piece opposing a ban on the brutal practice of dismemberment abortion, in which an unborn baby is torn limb by limb from a mother’s womb. Toomey’s triumph was instrumental in helping to retain Republican control of the U.S. Senate—a key to confirming stellar Supreme Court nominees and advancing pro-life legislation in the years ahead.

Meanwhile, Pennsylvania has maintained its pro-life majority in its Congressional delegation, with all of the U.S. House candidates endorsed by the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation PAC winning their contests. Perhaps most notably, the legacy of retiring pro-life hero Joe Pitts will continue in the 16th Congressional District.

Republican Lloyd Smucker overcame a barrage of attack ads from his pro-abortion Democratic opponent, Christina Hartman, to seize the hotly-contested House seat.

On the state level, the miracles continued. All of the state Senate candidates endorsed by the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation PAC emerged victorious. In addition, a whopping 97 percent of endorsed pro-life candidates for the state House of Representatives retained their seats.

The eyes of the nation were indeed on Pennsylvania. Just as it did with the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the adoption of the U.S. Constitution, the Commonwealth is helping to chart a course which could safeguard the rights of all citizens—including those in their mothers’ wombs.

May the Pennsylvania political miracle of 2016 lead to a renewed respect for the greatest miracle of all—the gift of life.
