It’s often said that “the pen is mightier than the sword.”

I can think of no greater evidence of that than what happened inside the Iowa State Capitol early this morning.

Governor Branstad signed into law SF 471 – the 20-week abortion ban!!!

Yes, that’s right, tiny babies will now be saved!!

With this historic law now in place, we are closer than ever to seeing an end to abortion!

In yesterday’s message to you, I reported that Planned Parenthood of the Heartland and the ACLU were in a Polk County Courtroom, asking for an emergency injunction against the 72-hour waiting period included in the 20-week abortion ban.

Judge Jeffrey Farrell DENIED their request and the bill went into effect immediately upon the signing today!

Now some bad news.

This morning, on the heels of their defeat at the County Court level, Planned Parenthood, along with the ACLU, went to their buddies at the Iowa Supreme Court and received an injunction against the 72-hour waiting period, designed to empower women.

According to them, dozens of women were scheduled for abortions today across Iowa. They didn’t want them burdened with the opportunity to be fully informed and prepared to make such a life-altering decision.

And the Iowa Supreme Court yet again sided with the largest abortion chain in Iowa, imposing a temporary injunction on the 72-hour waiting period.

We will keep you posted on the progress of their latest legal challenge.

But in the meantime, we move forward today overwhelmed with the historic moment that happened today.

Overwhelmed and grateful — late-term abortion has FINALLY been BANNED in Iowa!

Until abortion is no more.
