Kimberly-abortion-regretreEditor’s note. My family and I will be on vacation through August 25. I will occasionally add new items but for the most part we will repost “the best of the best” — the stories our readers have told us they especially liked over the last ten months.

One man discusses his girlfriend’s abortion:

“I wasn’t in a position emotionally, financially, or physically to father a child. I knew that I didn’t want to have a baby by her or anybody at that point… I probably would have shot myself if my girlfriend had decided to have the baby… My girlfriend was upset when I took her home after the abortion because I had made a prior arrangement to attend a concert which I was determined not to miss. She wanted me to stay with her to take care of her and give her the support she needed, but that night I simply said that the concert came first. She was very hurt. I guess it was childish of me, but she wasn’t on her death bed and I was not going to miss that concert for anything less than a matter of life and death… After the abortion she was very upset and emotional.”

They broke up a year later.
