Bill requires humane burial or cremation of aborted unborn children

COLUMBUS, Ohio—Earlier today, the House Health Committee overwhelmingly approved S.B. 28–Ohio Right to Life’s Unborn Child Dignity Act. This legislation requires the humane burial or cremation of unborn children following an abortion. The legislation also increases informed consent for women seeking abortions.

The legislation now heads to the House floor for a full vote. The Unborn Child Dignity Act is sponsored by pro-life Sen. Joe Uecker.

“Ohio Right to Life applauds the House Health Committee for taking a stance on the important issue of human dignity,” said Jamieson Weaver, Director of Communications and Marketing at Ohio Right to Life. “All human life has worth and is deserving of humane treatment, in both life and death.”

Ohio Right to Life prioritized The Unborn Child Dignity Act after the release of viral undercover videos in which top officials at Planned Parenthood were caught discussing trade in aborted baby body parts. Later, state investigators discovered that Planned Parenthood locations in Ohio contracted with waste disposal companies that deposited the remains of aborted children in landfills.

“The Unborn Child Dignity Act is the compassionate response to the violence of abortion,” said Weaver. “We will continue to fight to ensure that Ohio is a state that respects and protects human dignity.”
