True treasures whose lives should be cherished and celebrated

She is a faithful volunteer–a leader really–who approaches her work at the church with diligence and determination.

She also happens to have Down syndrome. The young woman is such a blessing to the church–it is hard to imagine the congregation without her.

And yet, in the vast majority of cases, preborn babies who, like her, have an extra chromosome, are targeted for extinction–victims of the search-and-destroy operations known as abortions.

Pennsylvania is close to enacting a law which would safeguard the rights of these vulnerable children. House Bill 2050, which passed the House of Representatives with a veto-proof majority, would ban abortions for the sole reason of a Down syndrome diagnosis.

The bill is now pending in the state Senate. Please call and email your state Senator and urge him or her to pass House Bill 2050.

Children like my church friend deserve protection. They are true treasures whose lives should be cherished and celebrated. They deserve nothing less.
