George Will column about Kermit Gosnell essential reading

Good news yesterday from the makers of “Gosnell: The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer”:

The #Gosnell Movie hits Video on Demand January 22nd. DVD, February 5th.

If you missed this powerful indictment of the abortion industry, the medical and political establishments in Pennsylvania, and a media that chose to largely ignore the murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell, here’s your chance to see the film and alert your friends and family.

Another piece of good news this week was syndicated columnist George Will’s column which ran in the Washington Post under the headline, “Kermit Gosnell And The Ignored Story Of America’s Biggest Serial Killer.”

At this late date, what can be added to the story of a man who was eventually convicted of three counts of first degree murder for intentionally delivering late-term babies alive and then murdering them by slicing their spinal cords?

As it turns out, plenty. Consider..

*Will reminds his readers that “this gripping true-crime courtroom drama, with dialogue taken from court transcripts and police records” went on to earn nearly $4 million, “in spite of impediments from portions of America’s cultural apparatus that are reflexively hostile to examining Gosnell’s career in infanticide.” Remember this was an independent film, lacking the Hollywood muscle and dollars to advertise hither and yon.

Nonetheless, “’Gosnell’ received 12, even though in the October week it was released it was the top grossing independent film and cracked the top 10 of all films in theaters,” Will writes. “The critics’ boycott of the film continued the journalists’ indifference toward Gosnell’s trial.”

We’ve talked many times about the barriers, obstacles, hurtles, and gauntlets the makers and distributors of the film went through, beginning with finding a crowdfunding website that would allow them to describe what the film would be about.

But we haven’t emphasized enough the entirety of what Gosnell was actually doing to probably hundreds, if not thousands, of babies.

He was executing born alive babies, babies who were so far along in their development that had the West Philadelphia abortionist not “snipped” their spinal cords, they would have easily survived with normal post-delivery care.

This is infanticide—not abortion.

*Will rightly argues

If Gosnell’s victims had been middle class instead of inner-city minorities, there surely would have been more interest in an abortion facility where babies were heard crying, and where a woman victim of Gosnell’s slapdash procedures went home with an arm and a leg of her baby still in her.

Gosnell is, at best, delusional. As we have written dozens of times, he continues to see himself as a kind of civil rights crusader, “helping” women in the inner city.

This conveniently ignores that he made millions and millions and millions largely off of poor women of color, in the process of which at least two women died.

It also avoids what the Grand Jury report found about how he treated white women:

Only in one class of cases did Gosnell exercise any real care with these dangerous sedatives. On those rare occasions when the patient was a white woman from the suburbs, Gosnell insisted that he be consulted at every step. When an employee asked him why, he said it was “the way of the world.”

*Even among the most careful students of the Gosnell butcheries, many are unaware of the precursor to his incredible indifference to the hideous pain so many women went through as they waited for Gosnell to show up typically hours and hours after the abortion process had begun.

Will quotes from the Grand Jury report about how “early in Gosnell’s career of carnage he used a medical device lacking federal approval, “basically plastic razors that were formed into a ball”:

“They were coated into a gel, so that they would remain closed. These would be inserted into the woman’s uterus. And after several hours of body temperature … the gel would melt and these 97 things would spring open, supposedly cutting up the fetus, and the fetus would be expelled.”

This has been aptly described as the1972 “Mother’s Day Massacre” and what these 15 women, all in their second trimester, went through borders on the unbelievable. Suffice it to say, according to the Grand Jury report,

“The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Philadelphia Department of Public Health subsequently did an investigation that detailed serious complications suffered by nine of the 15 women, including one who needed a hysterectomy. The complications included a punctured uterus, hemorrhage, infections, and retained fetal remains. The CDC researchers recommended strict controls on any future testing of the device.”

Will’s column is essential reading, whether you know a great deal about Gosnell or next to nothing. Gosnell was not an “outlier,” no matter how often the Abortion Industry insists he was. The film documented that and the trail confirmed it.

Gosnell is, rather, the face of a death machine that traffics in the blood of unborn (and born) children and the misery of their mothers.
