Ohio Right to Life Condemns Doctor and Hospital for Reckless Disregard for Human Life

by | Jan 15, 2019

COLUMBUS, Ohio–Yesterday, Mount Carmel Health System announced that a doctor who was employed there administered “significantly excessive and potentially fatal” doses of fentanyl to at least 27 patients who were near-death. This information became public after the estate of a patient who was killed at Mount Carmel West filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Franklin County.

“After reviewing the facts as presented, we can’t help but feel deeply saddened and frightened about how many innocent patients lost their lives,” said Jamieson Gordon, spokeswoman for Ohio Right to Life. “This is an absolutely disgusting violation of the most fundamental right we as people have: the right to life.

“These patients did not request this high dosage of pain medication, and administration of it violates the dignity that these people should have been granted in their waning days. If proven true, these actions constitute nothing less than murder. Such a callous disregard for human life cannot and should not go unpunished. We must stand up against reckless medical professionals who believe that they can take another’s life.”
