Tim Tebow proposed to former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters

Tim Tebow is the kind of man any father would want his daughter to marry. Genuinely modest, a man of strong faith and iron determination, on top of all that this great athlete is a strong pro-lifer who lives out that ethos in the way he conducts his life.

I bring up Tim, a former All-American Heisman Troph- winning football player, who switched to baseball, because he used his Instagram account to announce that he’d proposed to former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters Wednesday evening at his family’s farm in Florida.

Chris Hopkins of PennLive reported that Tebow wrote in his post, “[Demi-Leigh] Thank you for saying YES and making me the happiest man in the world. You’re the love of my life, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”

The couple has been dating for about two years, Hopkins added. Nel-Peters, 23, was crowned Miss Universe 2017.

Pro-lifers are most familiar with Tebow and the manufactured pro-abortion hysteria that ensued when news leaked that Focus on the Family had purposed 30 seconds to run an ad during the 2010 Super Bowl.

We were told Focus on the Family’s “Celebrate family, celebrate life” commercial would be “divisive” and would tackle a “controversial” topic. And, of course, critics sharpened their knives as they intolerantly attack Focus on the Family for its alleged “intolerance.”

The usual “Women’s groups” coordinated an attack via the Women’s Media Center and tried to coerce CBS into not running the ad none of them had yet seen. To its credit, CBS refused to buckle.

Pam Tebow says, “He almost didn’t make it into this world I remember so many times when I almost lost him. [Doctors recommended that she abort Tim.]

As we wrote at the time, the word “abortion” never appeared. Instead Tim and his mother, Pam, playfully horsed around while making a serious point about Tim, whom Mrs. Tebow called her “miracle baby.”

“It was so hard. Well he’s all grown up now, and I still worry about his health [a lighthearted reference to being crushed by a 300 pound lineman]. Everybody treats him like he’s different, but to me, he’s just my baby. He’s my Timmy, and I love him.

More recently there is the annual prom Tebow Foundation holds for people with special needs.

“Since 2015, there have been four February Fridays when hundreds of churches around the world have played host to Tim Tebow Foundation’s annual Night to Shine,” Katie Sullivan Borrelli, reported for the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin.

Perhaps the most famous example of Tebow’s devotion to these special people on this special night came in 2017. He had been contacted by a girl named Judy who invited Tim to her prom. But because it was baseball season, he was unable to attend.

But Tebow did something even better. He later appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and joked about never going to a prom himself. Fallon pulled out a corsage and wouldn’t you know it, Tebow had arraigned with Judy’s mother for Judy to be there when the show was taped.

Tebow went into the audience and brought Judy up onto the stage where they danced.

What a guy.
