You just never know what Planned Parenthood will say next

Sarah Stoesz will be the president of the new consolidated organization which will be known as Planned Parenthood North Central States.

Planned Parenthood of the Heartland has been one of Planned Parenthood’s largest affiliates, having gobbled up smaller affiliates along the way. But last May, it announced that PPH, which operates in Iowa and eastern Nebraska, is joining Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Consolidation? “Shake up”? Who knows for sure.

How interesting that on Friday the pro-abortion to the hilt Des Moines Register reported the following:

Billboards in support of abortion, featuring women who say they’ve had the procedure, are going up around Iowa.

Planned Parenthood of the Heartland said its “Say Abortion” billboards were up in Des Moines as of Friday. Additional billboards are scheduled to be released in other Iowa cities later this month, the group said.

Planned Parenthood’s Iowa affiliate said in a news release that the billboards are aimed at “breaking the cycle of silence and stigma” around abortion in the state.

Another way of looking at it might be that pro-lifers in Iowa have been aggressive and hugely successful in reining in Planned Parenthood in the Midwest. So when Dr. Jill Meadows, medical director for PPH, says

“We are amplifying the voices of real people who have had abortions, we are talking about abortion care out loud, and we are shifting the narrative so all people can talk openly about abortion with sensitivity to the complexity of real-life individual experiences,”

you could conclude this is a defensive gesture intended to “shift the narrative” from the grisly reality of what abortion does to its helpless victims.

The Register’s Barbara Rodriquez describes the billboards:

The series of new Planned Parenthood billboards features the faces of three women who say they’ve had an abortion. The messages all read, “I had an abortion,” before ending with “and I am not ashamed” or “and it was just health care” or “and I am not apologizing.”

Maybe if they have an additional set of billboards they could read something like

“I had an abortion, and it doesn’t bother me that my child could feel the agony of being ripped apart.” Or

“I had an abortion, my second, and I will not be ashamed if I have a third or a fourth.” Or

“I had an abortion, and by announcing it to the world I have humiliated my entire family, but I don’t care. I’ve been empowered.”

You just never know what Planned Parenthood will say next.
