“Never felt so proud of a United States President, nor as encouraged for the success of the Pro-Life Movement”

Shout out to EWTN for their magnificent coverage

By Holly Gatling, Executive Director, South Carolina Citizens for Life

On January 24, 2020, the day of the March for Life in the Washington, D.C., I had intended to join the hundreds of thousands of men, women, and youth who make the sacrifice once a year to seek peaceful redress for the gross injustice of abortion that has victimized 61 million unborn brothers and sisters.

I have marched many times and the feeling of solidarity in the pro-life movement is palpable. I was there when President George W. Bush addressed the March by telephone and it was edifying.

But this year the historic presence of pro-life President Donald Trump was something I wanted to witness in person. Unfortunately, I woke up the day of the March feeling under the weather and decided I could not risk the crowd.

So I did what millions of pro-lifers across the nation did. I watched President Trump on EWTN, the Catholic television network that has provided outstanding wall-to-wall coverage and commentary of the March for years.

The camera angles were outstanding and the air of excitement heightened as the presidential motorcade came in to view.  Minutes later when President Trump burst onto the stage and acknowledged the cheering crowd gathered on the Mall, I have never felt so proud of a United States President, nor as encouraged for the success of the Pro-Life Movement.

Right behind the President was another president, Carol Tobias, President of the National Right to Life Committee, the nation’s oldest and largest single-issue pro-life organization. My heart leaped for joy.

Thanks to President Trump, the Pro-Life Movement achieved an unparalleled visibility.

I wish I could have been physically present for the March. But the next best thing to being there was watching this historic event on the best television network in the world, EWTN.

Thank you EWTN.
