By now, I’m sure most of you have perused the March digital edition of National Right to Life News, “the pro-life newspaper of record.” I hope it has whetted your appetite for more.
You can cover a lot of topics in 47 pages—and we did.
Naturally with hugely consequential elections coming up in less than eight months, we talked about the presidential contest between pro-life President Donald Trump and a bevy of pro-abortion Democrats, now down to former Vice President Joe Biden and Democratic Socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders. Biden has opened up a considerable lead in delegates, which means that this Sunday’s one-on-one debate is enormously important. It will take place in Phoenix but without a live audience.
There are multiple stories about the oral arguments heard last week by the United States Supreme Court to a challenge to Louisiana’s law requiring abortionists to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles. A decision is expected by June.
We also placed great emphasis on the courageous attempt by Senate Republicans to overcome a filibuster of two immensely important measures: the “Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act” and the “Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.” Each carried more than 50 votes but not the 60 required to “invoke cloture,” totally because there was virtually unanimous opposition from Senate Democrats. We printed nine of the many, many poignant pro-life remarks. You can read them here; here; here; here; here; here; here; here; here.
What else?
The wonderful news that West Virginia is latest state to pass the
Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, for starters.
Then there was a much-reposted story about Kansans for Life’s annual Valentine’s Day banquet which featured former Denver Bronco Quarterback Tim Tebow. More than 1,200 people heard Tebow speak about the “rescue mission” performed by Kansans for Life.
There is much, much more, including both a story and a President’s column about passage of a parental consent law in Florida.
We’ll write more about the issue on Monday.
