NRLC endorses Tom Tiffany in Wisconsin’s 7th CD in the May 12 Special Election

With so much focus on COVID-19 and the 2020 elections, it is critically important special elections do not get overlooked.

There is a special general election in Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District coming up next month to replace pro-life Congressman Sean Duffy. Mr. Duffy resigned last fall to help care for his newborn daughter, who had medical complications. The winner will be the incumbent when the November 3 election takes place.

It is a classic pro-life versus pro-abortion contest with huge differences on the life issue.

National Right to Life has endorsed pro-life state Senator Tom Tiffany (R). His opponent is pro-abortion Democrat Tricia Zunker, a member of the Wausau School Board. Here are the differences.

Tom Tiffany opposes abortion on demand, and he opposes using tax dollars to pay for abortion.

Tom Tiffany supports the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This legislation protects unborn children by prohibiting abortion at 20 weeks, a point by which the unborn child is capable of experiencing great pain when dismembered or killed by other late abortion methods.

Tom Tiffany supports the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act that would require equal medical care to a baby who survives an abortion to a preemie of the same gestation age who arrived early.

In stark contrast, pro-abortion Democrat Tricia Zunker supports a policy of abortion on demand, which allows abortion for any reason. And Ms. Zunker wants taxpayers to pay for those abortions. She even wants to use tax dollars for abortion providers!

According to Kristen Nupson, legislative/PAC director for Wisconsin Right to Life,

We are thankful for Senator Tiffany’s boldness on the life issue and are proud to endorse him in his run for Congress. His experience and passion serving Wisconsinites in the state legislature will undoubtedly make him a successful leader and a strong defender of life in the U.S. House of Representatives. His family values make the pro-life cause personal to him, not just political. We need his voice in Washington, D.C., to defend the vulnerable.”

Sen. Tiffany’s campaign told NRL News Today, “As the dad of three daughters, Tom has seen the miracle of life firsthand. He is proud to be pro-life and to support President Trump as he works to protect the unborn. A proven fighter for life, Tom has defunded Planned Parenthood at the state level and will work in Congress, so no taxpayers’ dollars go to support abortions.”

The race is considered solid Republican by Cook Political Report. However, as always, turnout is the key. Traditionally, Special Elections do not spark large turnouts, so if you live in Wisconsin 7, be sure to cast your vote May 12 in the Special Election!
