Oklahoma Legislature to Resume Limited Activity

Governor Stitt Issues Pro-Life Order
Pro-Life Champion Dr. Tom Coburn Dies

After being essentially shut down for over a month due to the coronavirus, the Oklahoma legislature is resuming activity on a limited basis. We are hopeful our pro-life bills, which were halfway through the legislative process before the shutdown, will receive committee consideration, possibly this coming week.

In seeking to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, Governor Kevin Stitt issued an Executive Order prohibiting elective surgeries in order that medical professionals, hospital facilities, and protective equipment might be devoted to controlling the pandemic. The abortion industry filed suit against the Governor’s order, demanding the right to continue their trade of death-by-appointment. While the rest of society is focused on saving lives, the abortion profiteers are focused, as always, on the destruction of human lives.

In spite of the valiant efforts of Attorney General Mike Hunter and his staff in defending Governor Stitt’s pro-life order, the courts allowed the abortion facilities to continue their grisly commerce. Governor Stitt and Attorney General Hunter are to be commended for their defense of the lives of the youngest members of the human family.

This past month saw the death of longtime pro-life champion Dr. Tom Coburn. Dr. Coburn, a physician, delivered thousands of babies in his medical practice. A Republican, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from an overwhelmingly Democrat-majority district. After three terms in the House, he later was elected twice to the U.S. Senate, where he was one of the most committed and effective defenders of the right to life.

May he rest in peace.
