COVID 19-delayed primary in Pennsylvania to take place Tuesday

Jun 1, 2020

By Maria V. Gallagher, Legislative/PAC Director, Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation

Pennsylvanians head to the polls Tuesday for a primary election that had been delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Originally scheduled for April 28th, State officials moved the primary to June 2nd .

PA voters are casting ballots for President, state Attorney General, Auditor General, and Treasurer. They will also be voting in some hotly contested Congressional races and state House of Representatives contests.  Half of the state Senate is also up for election this time around.

The Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation PAC recently joined with the National Right to Life PAC to endorse eight incumbent Congressional representatives for re-election. The endorsed candidates include Rep. Dan Meuser (R-9th ), Rep. Scott Perry (R-10th ), Rep. Lloyd Smucker (R-11th ), Rep. Fred Keller (R-12th ), Rep. John Joyce (R-13th ), Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-14th ), Rep. Glenn Thompson (R-15th ), and Rep. Mike Kelly (R-16th ).

The unusual campaign season has meant that candidates have been getting their message out in creative ways—from videoconferencing meetings to social media.

Primary 2020 also marked the first time that Pennsylvanians could mail in their votes even if they plan to be in the Commonwealth on Election Day.

Pro-life voters seem to be especially engaged this year. That is because they know that LIFE is truly on the line this election year. Pennsylvania is considered to be a key to winning the White House. Pro-life voters also want to ensure that pro-life majorities are retained in the state House and Senate.
