It’s enough to give hypocrisy a bad name

This is the last post of the day, so I was trying to keep it brief. But I wound off laughing so hard, it’s a bit longer than I anticipate.

We all understand that everyone has blind spots that make it impossible to see what everyone else sees in us. But 99.9% of us are not major movers and shakers of public opinion, like a handful of newspapers and the three major networks and a couple of cable news networks.

That’s why when those in the media who have launched a personal crusade  of relentless, overwhelmingly negative, over-the-top assault on President Trump pretend they are neutral purveyors of “facts,” you have to wonder are they delusional or have they concluded “everyone” must agree with them so their opinion-mongering is factual ?

Paul Bedard writes very insightful and entertaining columns for the Washington Examiner, one of which he calls “Liberal Media Scream.”

Today’s column is headlined, “Liberal Media Scream: Anti-Trump CNN asks where’s the media ‘tearing down Trump.’”

Brian Stelter
Youtube video still

The nub of his amusing column is “one of the craziest claims yet by the anti-President Trump press corps — that there aren’t any media outlets dedicated to ‘tearing down Trump.’” He quotes an exchange yesterday between Trump hater, Brian Stelter, host of CNN’s Reliable Sources, and guest, Errin Haines, editor-at-large of the news site the 19th

After listing several conservatives who gleefully hammer pro-abortion Joe Biden, Steller asks,“ [W]hen you see entire media companies essentially exist to tear down Joe Biden, is there an equivalent of that on the left, tearing down Trump?

Haines answer? “There really isn’t.”

Bedard then goes to Media Research Center Vice President of Research Brent Baker  for an explanation of why this qualified as the “Liberal Media Scream” of the week:

“Stelter has become a parody of himself with this unintentionally, very funny exchange, which so well displayed his total lack of basic self-awareness. On a show dedicated every week to denouncing President Trump that airs on a network, which devotes hours every day to denigrating Trump’s policies and character, he seriously wonders if there’s a media outlet as anti-Trump as some radio talk shows are anti-Biden.”

Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey asks of the exchange, “Are you kidding?”

Morrissey lists just a tiny sliver of the forest of trees worth of media attacks against first candidate Trump and then President Trump. There is virtually no charge—personal, financial, political—that has not been thrown his way countless times.

The truly amusing part is that among the critiques the aforementioned conservative commentators make of Biden is whether he is still sharp enough to be President. But Morrissey lists just a handful of comments from the media that insisted Trump be impeached either because he was supposedly a threat to the Constitution but (get this)he is mentally incompetent.

Not suggestions, mind you, flat-out declarations. Morrissey reminds of what MSNBC routinely says about President Trump. For example.

Also November 2017: MSNBC host Joe Scarborough demands that the Cabinet invoke the 25th Amendment.

January 2018: Scarborough complains publicly that the Washington Post wouldn’t allow him to diagnose Trump with dementia in a column.

You get the point. The legion of media Trump haters will go ballistic if questions are even raised about a man who consistently misstates which state he is in but, without a shred of evidence. declare—for the good of the country, of course—that Trump be removed from office.
