Be sure to register for classic virtual debate this Thursday: “Resolution: Abortion is Immoral”

Oct 22, 2020

By Dave Andrusko

Readers of NRL News and NRL News Today will easily recognize two of the following three names but less so the third. They are Mildred Jefferson, Peter Singer, and Stephanie Gray-Connors.

The late Dr. Jefferson was a legendary figure in the pro-life movement, both in Massachusetts and as an early President of National Right to Life. Peter Singer is on the opposite side of virtually everything Dr. Jefferson stood for. He is the Ira W DeCamp Professor of Bioethics at Princeton University Center for Human Values, and someone we’ve written about many times.

Tonight at 7:00 Prof. Singer will take part in a virtual  debate with Stephanie Gray-Connors in the First Annual Dr. Mildred Fay Jefferson Symposium.  The Zoom Webinar is limited to 500 people, but the debate will also be live-streamed on the Facebook pages of Massachusetts Citizens for Life, and Harvard Right to Life, as well as YouTube.

You can register here for the Zoom Webinar.

One very important reason you will watch is to see Gray-Connors debate. I have read her book and watched her famous Goggle Talk. She is, to put it mildly, formidable.

As Breakpoint wrote back in 2017

Stephanie Gray [her maiden name] is a Canadian pro-life apologist. She travels the world making the case for the humanity and personhood of the unborn. She’s co-founder of the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform and now leads a ministry called Love Unleashes Life.

Her talk at Google just a few days ago wasn’t just unprecedented, it was amazing. In fact, within 24 hours, it it surpassed the popularity of another talk by [then] Planned Parenthood president, Cecile Richards.

The genius of Gray-Connors’ approach is that is bathed in love and compassion, blends science and faith in a manner that helps us understand that “we all know better at a deep level,” to quote John Stonestreet & G. Shane Morris.

Hosted by Harvard Right to Life and Sponsored by Massachusetts Citizens for Life, Resolution: Abortion is Immoral will no doubt be a debate long remembered.
