Daines calls out Bullock for Extreme Pro-Abortion Record

Last week, pro-life Senator Steve Daines faced off against his pro-abortion opponent Governor Steve Bullock in the second debate of the Montana Senate race. One of the most powerful moments came in Daines’s closing statement when he hammered Bullock for his extreme record on abortion:

“I’m pro-life. Steve Bullock has the most radical positions on abortion of any governor or any elected official in our country. He would not even pass a law to stop an abortion minutes before a baby might be born.”

Sen. Daines is referring to two pro-life proposals that Steve Bullock vetoed as governor. The first bill would protect unborn babies who are capable of feeling pain, from excruciating late abortions. (He vetoed this twice– in 2017 and 2019.)

The second bill would ensure that babies who survive abortions are provided the same medical care that any other newborn would receive at that stage of gestation.

Bullock joined a circle of anti-life extremism that includes Governor Ralph Northam of Virginia.  There was a national backlash in 2019 when Northam, appearing on a major radio station, said that if a baby survived an abortion,

“The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired. And then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”

By contrast, Sen. Steve Daines earned a 100% pro-life rating from National Right to Life in his first term. He

co-sponsored and voted for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would protect unborn children at 20 weeks, a point by which the unborn child is capable of experiencing great pain when being killed by dismemberment or other late abortion methods.  He also co-sponsored and voted for and the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act in the U.S. Senate. This legislation would require that a health care provider must “exercise the same degree of professional skill, care and diligence to preserve the life and health” to save an abortion survivor as they would a premature baby born at the same gestation age.

The Cook Political Report currently ranks the Senate race in Montana as a tossup. With an anti-life extremist on the ballot like Steve Bullock, this should not be so close. We need your help to re-elect Senator Steve Daines!

In addition to the important Senate race in Montana, pro-life state Auditor Matt Rosendale is running for the at-large U.S. House seat. His opponent, Kathleen Williams, is backed by national pro-abortion groups that lobby for abortion any time, anywhere and for any reason.

Keeping this seat in pro-life hands is crucial if we are going to take back the House from Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her pro-abortion allies.

After years of Gov. Bullock blocking pro-life bills, Montana is long overdue for a change. Pro-life Congressman Greg Gianforte is running against pro-abortion Mike Cooney for governor. Gianforte earned a 100% rating from National Right to Life during his time in Congress, and as governor he would sign pro-life bills to protect unborn babies and their mothers.

In person early voting began October 2 in Montana. Make sure your pro-life friends and family are registered to vote, then make sure they vote!
