What would make your top five list of things to be thankful for?

Thanksgiving 2020 is challenging for many people across the U.S., with concerns about COVID-19 wreaking havoc with many holiday plans. Some families face separations, others illness. The hardships can seem difficult to bear, especially given the myriad of other crosses we have experienced this year.

And yet, I find myself in a spirit of gratitude this Thanksgiving in this year-like-no-other. Here are five reasons I am thankful this holiday:

1.)     A large contingent of newly-elected pro-life women–currently at 17 with two races yet to be called–is headed to Congress.2021 could be the year of the pro-life woman, with so many female freshmen Congressional representatives honoring the sanctity of human life. It is a milestone achievement in our Republic, and we have reason to rejoice because of it.

2.)     A dazzling intellect and mother of school-age children sits on the U.S. Supreme Court, thanks to the appointment of Justice Amy Coney Barrett. She is a wonderful role model for daughters across America, expertly balancing the demands of work and family.

3.)      The Pro-Life Generation is determined to see abortion made unthinkable in their lifetime. The passion and commitment of these young people are inspiring and infectious, and point the way toward an abortion-free America.

4.)     So many couples are forming their families through the gift of adoption. They, along with heroic birth mothers, are helping to build up a civilization of love within our society.

5.)     Medical science is saving premature babies at ever-earlier stages of development. These micro-preemies give us renewed hope and are showing the world their tenacity and survival instincts.

What would make your top five list of things to be thankful for? Even in 2020, our cups of gratitude can runneth over. Wishing you good health and abundant joy this Thanksgiving!
