As we approach a new year, we hold to a vision of a life-affirming nation with even greater passion

I happened to catch a segment on a morning news show showcasing a Georgia voter. The man had just become a father for the first time this year.

He said that, when casting his ballot in the January 5 run-off elections, he would be thinking about what kind of a country he wanted his child to grow up in.

For many of us, that is a question that haunts us—especially in light of legalized abortion. We do not want our children growing up believing that the killing of nearly 900,000 children in the womb each year is normal or acceptable.

Rather we long for our nation to be welcoming of the preborn child and compassionate toward the child’s mother. We resist the false claim that women are somehow “empowered” by the abortion industry which profits off the deaths of their unborn babies.

We know in the depth of our hearts that each human life is precious and must be protected. And we believe that at some point the U.S. Supreme Court will come to its senses and overturn Roe v. Wade which it foisted on this nation nearly 48 years ago.

As we reach the cusp of a New Year, let us be more committed than ever to championing the right to life. Granted, we could face significant hurdles in 2021.

But as my father used to say, cream always comes to the top—meaning that eventually the good is recognized and even celebrated.

Life is always a good, no matter what its challenges. And it always deserves to be defended, no matter what the cost.

May we all live to see the day when America returns to its roots and defends the lives of each innocent baby boy and girl. It is a vision of America we need to hold onto as we begin a new year.
