There are a few things we know for sure as are less than a week away from the climax of the 2020 elections and much that we cannot know. What we can say is…
*It is no exaggeration to say the two senatorial runoff races in Georgia, featuring pro-life incumbent Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue matched up against pro-abortion Democrats the Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff, respectively, are incredibly important.
If the Democrats win both contests, there would be 50 Republican Senators and 50 Democrat Senators. This leaves the deciding vote to the president of the Senate—the pro-abortion Vice President in waiting Kamala Harris. In other words, if both Warnock and Ossoff prevail, pro-abortion Joe Biden will have a Democrat majority in the House and functional control of the Senate.
*We know that the Republican incumbents have 100% pro-life voting records. There would never be a whisper of a pro-life vote out of Rev. Warnock and Mr. Ossoff. As they say, you could not get a clearer contrast, two more obvious pro-life/pro-abortion faceoffs.
*It seems as if the entire Entertainment industry is pouring money in to help the Democrats.
*Assuming the vote counts are tallied honorably, turnout is everything. Here’s what the Associated Press said today about how and when vote totals are taken:
In-person early voting ends statewide Thursday, though some counties observe New Year’s Eve as a holiday so Wednesday will be their last day. Absentee ballots can be returned by mail or in drop boxes to be counted as long as they’re received by 7 p.m. on Election Day.
In today’s environment, that last provision is highly problematic for Republicans. What else do we know?
*Both Mr. Biden and President Trump will hold rallies. The AP’s Kate Brumback wrote today:
Trump already had announced plans to rally Monday evening, just hours before polls open, with the Republican senators in the north Georgia town of Dalton. Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, meanwhile, will come to Savannah on Sunday.
Judging by all recent measures, the President’s presence should be a much bigger boost for Loeffler and Perdue than Biden’s/Harris’ appearance for the Rev. Warnock and Ossoff.
Of course we can’t know for sure what the weather, which always affects turnout, will be like. Brumback reported, “the current Election Day forecast is mild and dry across the state.”
One other thing we can know: National Right to Life’s political actions committee are going all out to ensure that pro-life Senators Loeffler and Perdue remain in office and Mitch McConnell continues to be Senate Majority Leader.
